About This Video

In this homelab series video, I’m showing you DumbKan (DumbKan 2), which is basically the simplest self-hosted Kanban board you can run when you don’t want anything fancy. If you just need a clean board with columns like To-Do, Doing, and Done—and you want to drag tasks around like a normal Kanban—this is exactly that. I walk through how boards work (the defaults like Work and Personal), and I also show how I made my own “Homelab” board so I can track projects without a bunch of extra features getting in the way. I also cover the setup side: I pull it straight from their GitHub docs and run it with Docker on my VM. By default, it comes up on port 3000, and I mention how I’m using Nginx in my lab so I can put it behind HTTPS, but you can absolutely just hit it directly on port 3000 to get going. The big takeaway is that DumbKan is lightweight, fast to deploy, and gives you just enough project/task management to keep a few things organized—plus you can add or customize columns if you need something like “Needs Approval.”
