DumbDrop Github

DumbDrop (from DumbWare IO) is one of those tools that does exactly what it says—gives you a dead-simple place for people to drop files onto your server. I like it because it’s Docker-based, quick to stand up with Compose, and it doesn’t try to be a whole “platform” when all you need is a drop box.

Pros

  • +Very simple drag-and-drop upload workflow
  • +Easy to deploy with Docker and Docker Compose
  • +Optional PIN support for basic access control
  • +Files land directly on the server in an uploads directory

Cons

  • -PWD volume mapping didn’t work reliably in my testing (using “.” was easier)
  • -If you want HTTPS, you’ll likely want to front it with a reverse proxy like Nginx
