I used the linuxserver Diskover image because it’s the simplest way to get Diskover running without manually building the whole stack yourself. Their Compose example gets you Diskover + Elasticsearch + the helper container quickly, and then it’s just a couple tweaks like changing the port and mounting the path you want to scan.

Pros

- +Easy to point at a mounted path (local disk or NFS) for scanning
Cons
- -Elasticsearch needs enough RAM (my VM had to be bumped to ~4GB)
- -You still have to manually kick off the crawl job to populate an index
