Canon 5D Mark IV
This is the camera that started my professional career, and after a ton of real-world use it’s still the definition of a workhorse that just works. You’re getting a 30MP sweet-spot sensor, great Canon colors, and ergonomics that still beat a lot of newer bodies for me.

- +Reliable professional body with weather sealing and dual card slots
Cons
- -No flip/tilt screen limits shooting angles
- -4K Motion JPEG creates huge files; not practical as a 4K camera
- -Mixed CF + SD card slots are annoying and CF cards are harder to find
- -Viewfinder AF hit rate depends heavily on EF lens motors
