Hello everyone! Today, I have a super cool video for you- I got to test out a brand-new Sony release- a FE 70-200MM F4 Macro G OSS II lens. Not only that, but I got to shoot with it in the most epic location in New York. My first impression of the 70-200 f/4 G lens was that it was very light and compact in comparison to its predecessors, which is a big deal for me, considering I constantly travel with my gear so portability is extremely important to me. I was really excited to play around with the f/4 and see what kind of bokeh I can achieve as well as test the out the focus as I heard it was meant to be extremely fast. I shoot a lot of fashion and swimwear and in my work I use two focal lengths - 24-70 and a 70-200. As I mentioned, because of the nature of my job and luggage restrictions I love to keep it minimal and those two cover me for any scenarios. recently I’ve been reaching for the 70-200 a lot more as I started gravitating towards more backlit, closeup shots in my portraiture and I find the 70-200 always delivers the most beautiful results that offer great background separation from my subject as well. I got to take some of my favorite photos with the 70-200 f/4. I organised a photoshoot on one of the best rooftops I found in New York and it was truly an incredible experience. I was so impressed with how efficient the focusing system was, it didn’t miss a beat. I got to play with different focal lengths too and got the most gorgeous buttery background compression in the closet up portraits. I think the f/4 is a great option for anyone who’s looking to either add a 70-200 lens into their kit or even upgrade their existing one without breaking the bank. Shooting at f/4 allows for more background to be incorporated into the shot which I personally find very visually appealing. What I do love about this lens is also that you still get a lot of background compression and beautiful bokeh even at f6.3 if shooting on 130mm and up so you’re not really missing out on anything! Overall i would highly recommend the 70-200 f/4, especially if you’re looking for something a bit more budget friendly as the lens sits at $1700. The lens compact, the focus is extremely fast and accurate and the image quality is one of the best I’ve seen. BIG SHOUTOUT TO MY TEAM!
