Here is a short demonstration of some hand/foot interplay when trading 8-bar solos in an aggressive modern jazz style. This is the type of high energy playing that would take place during the Drum Solo trading section of a tune. I play the 8-bar solos in a medium up tempo first with a click on 2 & 4 and then at a very fast tempo without the click. Each solo is preceded by 8 bars of timeplaying. These types of ideas come from pages and 121-128 of my book Advanced Coordination for Drum Set and Hand Percussion. You can order that from me at rickdior@gmail.com The cymbals are all 1950's K Zildjian with a Paiste 22" swish. The drums are Gretsch Centennial series: 18"x14" bass,10",12",14" toms, and a 14"x6.5" snare. There are calf heads on the snare drum and bass drum, and Remo coated Ambassadors on the toms. 2 overhead mics are being used, that's it.
