Here is a top-view demonstration of some groove playing and soloing in 7/8. I am using the TE tuner app in a 2+2+3 seven pattern, and it is visible on the screen. I love to play in odd times and 7 is especially fun. Practicing this type of over the bar line phrasing really enhances your creativity when you are playing in common time so I highly recommend practicing all types of odd time meters with a metronome. You can find some other odd meter material in this video: https://youtu.be/0ZaS-_kM-eM The kit I am using is a Gretsch Catalina Elite set from the early 1990s. The sizes are: 16" BD, 12" and 14" toms. I am using a Ludwig 5"x14" Black Beauty snare. The cymbals are all old K Zildjian from the 1940s through 1960s except for a 24" Masterwork Thalles series China/Swish.
