In this installment of the View from the Back of the Band series, we have the Kenny Drew tune Cool Green. This is a medium tempo 12-bar blues tune with a nice head. Personnel: Ziad Rabie Tenor Sax, Sean Higgins Piano, Andre Ferrari Guitar, Ron Brendle Bass, and Rick Dior, Drums These gigs consist of one very short rehearsal right before the concert. To do these types of one-and-done gigs, you must have the interpretive skills to read a basic lead sheet, as I show on the screen here. Please excuse the harsh audio, as this was recorded on a few cell phones. You may want to listen with headphones to hear the audio more clearly.
