#watercolor #watercolorpainting #watercolorlandscape #relaxingvideo Hi everyone! In this video, I'm painting a beautiful Iris flower using watercolors. **Here's what I used:** 1. **Paper:** Arches Cold-Pressed Watercolor Paper (300gsm) - lovely texture and holds water well! 2. **Paints:** * Main Paints: Van Gogh watercolors. * Extra Sparkle: Some unnamed iridescent/pearl paints I found at the mall! * **Color Mixing Tips:** * **Center (Stamen):** Orange family colors. * **Petals:** Purple family colors. * Want **deep purple**? Add Cobalt Blue. * Want **bluish-purple**? Add Sky Blue. * Want **reddish-purple**? Add a red. * **My Secret Tip:** No matter which color you add to your purple, put in just a **tiny bit of orange** too! Seriously, just a tiny bit. This makes the purple look richer and more 'grounded'. * **Background:** Greens and Blues, with a touch of Yellow mixed in. * **Darkest Shadows:** Payne's Grey. 3. **Brushes:** * Mostly my trusty calligraphy brushes. * For the stems, I used a synthetic flat brush (a freebie gift!). The handle's broken, but the brush head still works perfectly! **Using the Pearl Paints (The Sparkly Finale!):** * **Wait until your painting is completely dry.** * Then, use the **White Pearl** paint to add highlights to the white parts of the petals. * Use the **Purple Pearl** to add shimmer to the purple petals. * Use the **Orange Pearl** to make the flower center (stamen) shine! Thanks so much for watching! I hope you enjoyed seeing the process and picked up some tips. See you in the next video!
