✨ The Challenge of Thick Hair: Why Going very Short Isn’t Always the Answer ✨ One of the trickiest hair situations is when someone has very thick hair but doesn’t want to wear it long anymore. Many people assume that cutting thick hair short will automatically make it easier to manage. Sometimes that’s true … but only if it’s done correctly. 👌 The biggest challenge is controlling the bulk, especially: 1️⃣ Above the ears 2️⃣ Around the back of the head 3️⃣ Through the sides and crown If these areas aren’t reduced properly, the haircut can quickly become heavy, bulky, and difficult to style. 💭 The reality is that many women choose shorter hair because they want simplicity. They don’t want to spend time styling, blow-drying, or maintaining a longer look every day. And that’s completely understandable. However, when the hair is naturally flat on top, going too short can create a different problem. ⚠️ You can end up losing: • Volume • Softness • Movement • Femininity • The beauty and elegance of natural grey hair Even with this client, creating volume on the top was already a challenge. If we had gone much shorter, the haircut could have looked flat and lifeless, taking away many of the features that make grey hair look beautiful and sophisticated. ✂️ My solution was to create balance. Instead of cutting everything short, I: ✅ Removed weight from the bulky areas ✅ Used an undercut to eliminate excess volume underneath ✅ Kept more length through the top and front ✅ Created movement and softness around the face ✅ Allowed room for natural waves and texture to shine This way, she gets the ease of a shorter haircut without sacrificing shape, volume, or elegance. 🌿 The goal of every haircut isn’t simply to make the hair shorter. The goal is to make the hair work for the person’s face, lifestyle, texture, and natural beauty. Sometimes removing less hair creates a far better result than removing more.
