Nicholas Jamerson is one of Appalachia's best-kept secrets - a powerful songwriter and performer who deserves the world's attention. I hope that he is your new favorite artist and that you can dive into his musical catalog the way that me and my close friends have the last 5-7 years. His music has became an anthem to many of us, as we listen to his songs on repeat through out our days. For me personally, it is healing music, and something that I put on when I want to feel good. @nicholasjamerson is the certain kind of artist who doesn't chase the spotlight — he builds his own fire and lets people find the warmth. I truly believe Nicholas is one of the most underrated artists of our time, not just in Appalachia, but in all of Americana and country music. The first time I ever recorded nick around 4 or 5 years ago when the channel was very small, I remember being so extremely nervous to record him because of my admiration I had for his music... all these years later and it still feels just as important when we are able to get together. I truly believe he's one of the finest songwriters of our generation - a voice that will be remembered long after the noise fades... If that seems like a stretch, then I invite you to listen to a few of his albums and get back to me. This live performance of "Hindman" is one of my favorites I've ever filmed. It's raw, real, and everything we love about Appalachian music. About This Video

Nicholas Jamerson is one of Appalachia’s best-kept secrets, and this session is exactly why I keep saying that. In this video, I filmed Nick performing “Hindman,” a raw, real live take that hits the heart of what I love about Appalachian music—songs that sound like they were lived in before they were ever sung. Nick shares the story behind it: he wrote the song for his grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary, with his granddad from Johnson County and his grandmother from Letcher County, and Hindman being that place in between—“common ground,” as he puts it. The performance itself is all longing and gratitude—“life after war and life after wine,” that nervous walk into the diner, and the kind of love that makes a person want to clean up their mouth and their habits just to hold somebody’s hand. After the song, we get a candid moment where Nick talks about how heavy and dark the record was for him, and how getting it off his chest has been good. This is one of my favorite things I’ve ever filmed—because it’s not chasing a spotlight, it’s building a fire and letting you find the warmth.
