If you are just starting to garden for the first time and really don't know where to start, watch this video. There are so many plants, so many things to know, and generally no one to help answer your questions when you arrive at a box store or garden center. For that reason I created this video with those problems in mind. In this guide, I go through the main categories of plants that you will find at your garden centers, providing pros and cons of each type of plant, where you might decide to use them, and some well known examples of each kind. Once you have a good feeling on the different kinds of plants, it is essential to understand your growing zone. Before we launch into zones, I show how to read and understand the information on plant tags, those little tags you find in the pots and the garden centers. So we take a dive into what a growing zone is, what the zones mean and how you can find out your specific growing zone.
