In this episode of our “try a ton of paddles until we find the perfect match” series, I’m helping our new coworker (she’s a high-level player) get dialed in on one of the biggest variables in paddle selection: shape. Even great players can feel totally different from paddle to paddle, and before we chase core thickness, surface, or weighting, we wanted to narrow the field by testing Standard, Hybrid, and Elongated shapes head-to-head. We put three standout options on court—CRBN TruFoam Genesis 2 (standard), SixZero Double Black Diamond Control (hybrid), and Paddletek Bantam TKO-CX (elongated)—and focused on what each shape tends to give you in real play. Standard shapes are all about a familiar feel and a balanced sweet spot, hybrids blend quickness with a bit more reach, and elongated shapes typically reward you with extra extension and leverage.
