My most used tripod (Sirui) - http://shrsl.com/4u2wn So what is the best way to photograph birds in flight? Well that depends on your equipment, what type of birds you are photographing, and the lighting conditions on the day. In this video I am going to tell you how to photograph birds in flight with a Nikon D5200 and a Nikon AF-s Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6 lens. Don't click away if you have another brand of camera or lens, as this video has some great general tips for bird photographers. Getting pictures of birds in mid-flight can be a challenge. Some birds fly faster than others and of course birds are all different sizes. In this video I am taking photos of Australasian Gannets and Common Terns. The Gannets have wingspans of up to 2 meters, and of course the Terns are a much smaller bird. Both species fly in a similar way, gliding along with their heads down searching, and then diving down quickly into the water to catch fish. In this video, you will not only learn the settings to photograph birds in flight, but also some tips for how to set yourself up and focus on the birds. The birds in flight photography techniques I teach here I have learnt through hours and hours of bird photography with many different types of birds. To check out some of my bird photography, please go to https://www.barrycallisterphotography.com.au/australian-birds I hope you learn some great bird photography tips from this video.
