#reklam Despite their small size, Sparkling Gouramis have a very striking appearance. I set up a species only tank for them, where we will observe their behavior and share their growth stages with you. It’s possible to create beautiful, sustainable ecosystem aquariums without spending a lot of money, with minimal technology and affordable materials. And you can do it without stress or exhaustion. Having an aquarium hobby doesn’t mean adding stress to your life, it means sitting in front of the tank you built with your own hands and letting go of the day’s worries. Of course, not every aquarium can be set up this way. Whether or not water changes are done, whether a filter is used, and how the aquarium is designed all depend on the needs of the animals living inside and on our own expectations from the tank. When necessary, water changes can be done, and filters can certainly be used in the systems that require them. I’ve made a list of the exact products I use. If I couldn’t find the exact ones, I included similar products, and if I couldn’t find those either, I added alternatives that might be useful for you. You can check them out in the products section. About This Video

In this video I build a low-tech planted aquarium using simple, affordable materials—yes, even garden soil—without CO₂ and without a filter. The goal is a calm, natural ecosystem where the plants do the heavy lifting and the tank becomes something you can sit in front of and relax with, instead of another source of stress. I set it up as a species-focused home for Sparkling Gouramis, because they’re small but incredibly striking, and I want to observe their behavior and growth stages in a stable, natural environment. I also talk about the bigger idea behind these setups: you can absolutely create a beautiful, sustainable aquarium without spending a lot of money or relying on lots of technology, but not every tank should be run the same way. Whether you do water changes, whether you use a filter, and how you design the system depends on the animals inside and what you expect from the tank. This build is a 50-liter (40×35×35 cm) planted layout with a mix of easy, ecosystem-friendly plants, and I share the tank’s progress at day 60 as the system settles and evolves.
