Everybody talks about the Instagram algorithm, but most people don’t understand what it actually is—or why it feels like it’s working against them. In this video, I break it down the way I actually use it to scale faceless theme pages in 2026: the algorithm is a personalized ranking system based on predicted engagement, and Instagram’s real goal is simple—keep people on the app as long as possible so they see more ads. I also explain that Instagram isn’t just “one algorithm.” There are different ranking systems (Reels, Home, Stories, Explore), but Reels is the one that drives the most growth for theme pages, so that’s what I focus on. Then I show you how Reels distribution really works: every reel gets pushed to a small test audience (mostly non-followers), Instagram measures key engagement metrics, gives it a score, and either expands reach or limits it. To consistently earn the next batch of views, you need to design content to trigger the highest-priority metrics: watch time, completion rate, replays, and shares.
