I Built a Gravel Bike Like a Road Bike | Colnago G4-X First Look

This is my first look at the Colnago G4-X. Instead of building it like a typical gravel bike, I tried to make it feel as close to my road bikes as possible. Narrow cockpit, fast tires, aggressive gearing, and a build focused entirely around speed. The goal was simple: create a gravel setup that feels lively and efficient on pavement but still capable when the road turns to dirt. The G4-X already has strong road DNA in the frame design, so instead of softening it with a traditional gravel build, I leaned into that personality. This build features ENVE AR40 wheels, 45mm Continental Terra Competition tires, a mullet drivetrain with an X0 Eagle AXS derailleur and 48t aero chainring, and Colnago’s CC.01 cockpit. So far the bike has been incredibly fun to ride, from steep gravel climbs to fast pavement sections. Over the next few months I’ll continue putting miles on it and will report back with a full long-term review around the 500 mile mark.
