In this video I’m exploring what the new GPT 5.2 model can actually do for us, beyond the usual “it can write text and do your math homework” stuff. I keep it high level on purpose, but the big headline is that 5.2 looks more economically feasible than the older model (less compute cost) and it feels faster. In some areas it’s only a slight improvement over 5.1, but for knowledge work tasks it’s almost twice as good, which is a pretty meaningful upgrade depending on what you use it for. I also tested a bunch of the more “demo-style” capabilities people are sharing: simulations (like an ocean wave sim), importing an image and turning it into a viewable 3D-style scene, holiday/invitation cards, simple websites you can export as HTML, and even game prototypes like Pac-Man and roguelite dungeon RPGs. Some results were impressive, but also glitchy—like non-interactable Windows 97-style UI attempts, broken controls, and weird behavior. My takeaway: your imagination is the limit if you prompt well, but right now a lot of this feels more like showcasing the tech than something I’d rely on daily—though there are definitely use cases I might not have thought of yet.
