In this video, I’m sharing a very serious “househelp wahala” story that touched my heart. It’s about a girl who drank Hypo (bleach/detergent) because her boyfriend broke up with her. As I talk about it, I also share my own thoughts as a Nigerian mum—why heartbreak is never a reason to end your life, and why we need to pay attention to people around us, especially young girls that are easily pressured or emotionally vulnerable. I used this gist to also highlight the kind of issues we see with house helps and domestic staff sometimes—emotional struggles, lack of support, and how quickly things can escalate when nobody is checking in. My big takeaway is simple: relationship is not your whole life, and no man is worth drinking anything harmful for. Please talk to someone, reach out for help, and if you’re a parent/guardian/employer, try to create a safe space where people can speak up before it’s too late.
