Stockwell II

The Marshall Stockwell II impressed me with an awesome midrange clarity and a very subtle “open” sound that feels like a touch of delay/reverb on vocals and solo instruments. It also throws sound surprisingly evenly around the room for this kind of design, which makes it great as a personal speaker for a small room or office. Just keep in mind the bass isn’t full-bodied, and it starts to sound compressed when you push past around 80% volume.

Pros

  • +Awesome mid-range clarity
  • +Fairly even sound projection in almost every direction
  • +Vintage mini guitar amp-style design looks great
  • +20-hour battery life and Bluetooth 5.0

Cons

  • -Bass is not full-bodied compared to the Onyx Studio 4
  • -Subtle processing effect can make some songs sound less accurate
  • -No way to control or disable the effect
  • -Limiter/compression becomes noticeable above ~80% volume
