The OpenClaw Killer? Testing Base44's New Agent

In this video, I'm testing it out to see if it's actually worth your time and how it compares to OpenClaw. Setting up Base Agent: The setup is conversational and approachable. The agent asks for a name, learns about you, and automatically builds a memory file with your information (name, timezone, what you do). You can chat directly in Base44 or connect WhatsApp/Telegram to message from apps you already use. Test #1: YouTube video ideas generator Asked for weekly video ideas. The agent searched 18 pages, asked clarifying questions about audience and recent performance, then generated relevant ideas tailored to the channel. Offered to set up a weekly video ideas tracker with scheduled automation. Test #2: Building a mini app Asked it to create a YouTube script generator app. The agent built a full app where you paste a title/idea and it generates a script using OpenAI. Required adding an OpenAI API key (saved to secrets for future use). The app can be edited further in Base44's full builder. Test #3: Google Sheets integration Connected Google Sheets integration and asked it to research "top cookies in New York City" and create a spreadsheet. It successfully created a Google Sheet with 5 bakeries, locations, and why they're special. Limitations discovered: Can't send messages while agent is actively searching/working Some apps require your own API keys (like OpenAI for the script generator) Single chat thread (simpler but less organizational flexibility) What's similar to OpenClaw: - Soul file for agent identity - Memory building over time - Multiple integration options - Can work on scheduled tasks My take: Base44 Agent offers a more accessible entry point to personal AI agents compared to OpenClaw's technical setup. The killer feature is the ability to build mini apps that leverage Base44's full engine, then expand them into production-ready applications.
