About This Video

In this video I talk about how I secure a Starlink internet connection using proper monitoring mindset and real troubleshooting steps—mainly security hardening with firewall, VPN, and safe remote access. Starlink is amazing for remote and rural areas, but like any internet line, if you keep it “default,” you’re inviting risk. So I explain what I actually recommend to protect personal data, stop unauthorized access, and keep your browsing and devices safe whether you use Starlink at home, on the road, or for business. First, I focus on firewall control. The Starlink router has basic security, but it’s not an advanced firewall—so I suggest using a third‑party router/firewall like Ubiquiti, TP-Link, or pfSense to get deeper traffic control. Then I cover blocking unwanted ports, using IP filtering (only trusted IPs), and treating the firewall like a gatekeeper for inbound/outbound traffic. After that, I explain why a VPN is a must for encryption, privacy, and safer usage in shared/mobile environments, plus it can help with geo‑restricted content. Finally, I show how to do remote access the right way: use DDNS for dynamic IP, stick to encrypted protocols like SSH/SFTP/HTTPS, avoid exposing RDP/FTP directly, and use port forwarding very carefully with strong passwords/SSH keys and 2FA.
