I Tested the New TaylorMade Qi Max Irons — Here’s What Surprised Me

In the latest episode of the Your Golf NCG reviews, PGA Professional Jack Backhouse puts the new TaylorMade Qi Max irons to the test to see if they truly change what we expect from a modern game-improvement iron. Traditionally, forgiving irons have come with compromises. Whether that be bulky looks, harsh feel or limited control. But, now TaylorMade say the new Qi Max irons are different, combining distance and forgiveness with improved sound, feel and a more compact profile inspired by their players' irons. We went to the Corinium Resort in Cyprus, where we put the Qi Max through its paces with long irons, mid irons and short irons. To get a complete understanding of these irons we tested every compartment of them from ball speed and distances to forgiveness on mishits and how much control you really get into the greens. We also discuss who the Qi Max irons are really for, whether they could suit lower handicappers, and if they’re worth upgrading from previous Qi models.
