In this build series kick-off, I’m diving into the Bandai 1/12 scale C-3PO & R2-D2 kit—starting with the C-3PO portion. This is Part I, so the focus is getting Threepio together cleanly and then taking it a step further by lighting up his eyes. Bandai’s engineering makes the assembly really enjoyable, but I still treat it like a proper display build—clean parts, careful fitment, and making sure the lighting looks right once everything is closed up. The main takeaway here is how I approach a simple lighting upgrade without turning it into an overcomplicated electronics project. I’m aiming for a finished look that reads “on-screen” when you see him on the shelf, and the lit eyes add a ton of life to the build.
