What to Wear Hiking in the Mountains

Admittedly, when it comes to what to wear while hiking - I’m not the most fashion-forward. But for what I lack in showing up on the cover of Vogue, I make up for having a versatile, comfortable hiking outfit. As a “woman” (I’m non-binary, but lean towards mostly women's clothing), I find that things like functional pockets, a comfortable waistband, and the ability to layer, and my budget tend to outweigh my fashion sense. The key to building your kit is to start with the things that matter the most. Invest in your feet first - always. Unhappy feet = unhappy hiker! Next, choose a layer that’s specific for the environment you hike in. For example, hot weather hikes - invest in a sunshirt! For mountain weather, a solid puffy, and for humid climates, a breathable rain jacket.
