The Hanging Lake hike is a stunning hike outside of Glenwood Springs that requires an advanced permit to visit. I have been hiking throughout Colorado for the last 15 years and Hanging Lake is one of those places that you have to see to believe. Yes, Hanging Lake looks like the photographs. It’s one of the most beautiful lakes in the country, and certainly the most unique lake in Colorado. I’m super picky when it comes to hikes in Colorado - especially over-crowded, “best of” lists that everyone regurgitates. But I absolutely think Hanging Lake is worth a visit.
