How I Had Angel's Landing All to Myself

Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park is such a unique experience. I LOVE how they have made what is a very exposed and difficult hike accessible for the average hiker. It’s okay if you find the Angels Landing scary or intimidating. I am coming from over a decade of experience on this kind of terrain. And given the things I’ve done, Zion National Park has made this kind of hike accessible with the infrastructure they have in place. However, I don’t love the crowds. I never have. And I’ve been to countless world-famous hiking locales without any people. This video will give you the inside scoop on how to make that happen - and psst spoiler alert - it involves a winter outting. And no, I’m not cheating. But yes, it is substantially more difficult than the crowded way. The entire trip becomes a 15-plus-mile, multi-sport trip. For a seasoned hiker, it adds an extra layer to the day. Regardless of how you hike Angel’s Landing, you NEED a permit. Permits are done via a lottery system, several months in advance. When we entered the lottery, we had 2 entries to increase our chances. We were in the area for almost a week over Christmas. Both my spouse and I were awarded a permit for our first choice of days.
