In part 2 of this North Carolina mining series, I head back out with Dale from Tamarack Geological Services ( https://www.tamarackgeo.com/ ) and the team at Metal Source Mining ( https://www.metalsourcemining.com/ ) to get a much closer look at the Silver Hill Project. We tour the property, visit active drill pads, inspect fresh drill core, and walk through some of the old workings tied to one of the most historically important mining districts in the eastern United States. From the moment we arrive on site, it’s clear this is not just a history lesson—this is an active exploration project where modern drilling, geology, and geophysics are being used to chase a very real mineralized system. Drill results here: https://www.metalsourcemining.com/20260413-metalsource-mining-intersects-48-04-g-t-aueq-over-12-62m-including-210-72-g-t-aueq-over-2-74m-extends-mineralization-down-dip-195m-continues-to-expand-gold-silver-and-base-metal-mineralization During the visit, Dale breaks down how the project is being explored, from the layout of the old shafts and historic workings to the modern drill targeting strategy now being used to test the ore body down dip and along strike. We check out the core sheds, look at how the core is logged and processed, and then head down to the drill itself for a full look at how the operation works in real time. You’ll see the drill cycle, the core barrel recovery process, and the kind of rock and alteration the geologists are watching for as they try to vector into stronger mineralization. Things get especially interesting once we start opening boxes of core and spotting the sulfide-rich material the team is after. There’s plenty of pyrite, sphalerite, and galena showing up in the core, along with strongly mineralized intervals that line up with what they’ve been seeing elsewhere on the project. At one point, we take a closer look at a particularly exciting section that appears to show possible visible gold. Under magnification, the rock looks extremely promising, and the XRF readings only add to the excitement. While lab assays will ultimately tell the real story, this is one of those moments every exploration geologist and prospector hopes to catch firsthand. We also spend time digging into the deeper story of Silver Hill itself. The site has a long and fascinating history, dating back to the 1800s, when it became known for silver, lead, and zinc production. The team explains how the mine developed over time, how earlier operators worked the upper and deeper zones, and why the property still matters today. There’s also discussion of Civil War-era mining, Tennessee Copper’s later work on the project, and how modern companies are now re-evaluating the district with better tools and better geological understanding than ever before. Beyond the drilling, this video also gets into the geophysics side of the project. We talk with the geophysics team about induced polarization surveys, downhole methods, and how they use conductivity, resistivity, and polarization anomalies to help identify sulfide-bearing zones beneath the surface. Combined with geology, drilling, and geochemistry, this layered approach helps the team build a more complete picture of what’s happening underground and where the next targets may be. If you’re into hard rock mining, ore geology, drill core, sulfide mineralization, historic American mines, or modern mineral exploration, this episode has a lot to offer. Huge thanks to Dale, Tamarack Geological Services, and Metal Source Mining for the tour and for sharing such an in-depth look at the project. Stay tuned for part 3, where the North Carolina mining trip continues with a visit to Reed Gold Mine, the site of the first documented gold discovery in the United States. check out metal sources website here: https://www.metalsourcemining.com/silverhill #goldmining #geology #earthscience For more info please email or call: Email: info@MBMMLLC.com Phone: 360-595-4445 Website: http://www.mbmmllc.com/ eBay: https://www.ebay.com/usr/mtbakerminingandmetals Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/MBMMLLC Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MBMMLLC Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mbmmllc/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MBMMLLC
