I’m back in the California desert with Harry and Chad from @mineoperator and today we started with a simple plan: swing the detectors and look for gold in quartz float. What started as a standard prospecting trip quickly turned into Mining Mode when we stumbled upon something incredible. ⚙️ The Strategy: Finding the Source We began by scanning the talus slopes for mineralized, vuggy quartz—the kind of "honeycomb" rock that gold loves to hide in. While I worked the washes with the Gold Monster 1000, Harry and Chad began investigating the geology of a unique "bowl" where softer bedrock erodes faster, potentially trapping gold nuggets that have stayed hidden for over millenia. 💎 The Discovery: Crystalline Gold & Epithermal Vents The game changed when Chad took a sample of some "white fluffy stuff"—a unique calcite-rich hydrothermal vent—and panned it out. The result was shocking: coarse, crystalline gold that hadn't even been crushed yet! We immediately brought the Gold Monster 1000 over to the discovery site. Despite the gold being incredibly fine and attached to the quartz, the detector was screaming. We spent the afternoon uncovering: Visible Gold locked inside brecciated quartz. Crystalline Pickers that the old-timers missed because they didn't have this modern technology. A "Honey Hole" that we are now delineating to see just how far this rich mineralization extends. ⛏️ Mining Mode We've officially stopped prospecting and started digging. We’re bagging up the high-grade ore to be crushed and run through a shaker table and hammer mill. The geological markers here—north-south striking veins with heavy hematite and magnetite in the hanging wall—point to a significant deposit. How much gold is really in this pocket? Stay tuned as we hump these sandbags out and get to the final cleanup! 👇 Connect with the Team @MineOper A huge thanks to Harry and Chad for the expertise.
