I bought the Drop x Sennheiser PC38X with my own money and tested it as both a gaming headset and a headphone. If you truly need an all-in-one headset, it’s one of the best-sounding options out there, but at $170 it’s a tough sell versus similarly priced non-headphones for music.
Pros
- +One of the best-sounding gaming headsets on the market if you need a headset
- +Decent imaging for footsteps and in-game positioning
- +Solid headset microphone for voice chat
- +Two pad options included for comfort/tuning preference
Cons
- -Build feels very cheap with thin plastic parts and sharp molding edges
- -Not very detailed; transients sound smoothed over and a bit dulled
- -Soundstage isn’t particularly wide
- -At $170, value is questionable versus regular headphones plus a separate mic
