In this quick video, I'm going to show you how to freely position images anywhere in Google Docs. I’ve got an untitled document open with some placeholder text and an image of a mountainscape that I grabbed from Unsplash. The image is currently at the bottom of the document, but you might want to move it to a different spot, like right before a paragraph or heading. To start, I can highlight the image. You'll notice that I have the usual rotation options available. But the cool part is that I can simply drag the image around. As I do this, the cursor changes, and a blue line appears, indicating where the image will land once I let go of the mouse button. For example, if I want to move the image up, I can drag it higher in the document. I’m holding down the left mouse button and moving the image until I see the blue line appear just after the paragraph I want it to be placed. Once I release the mouse, bam! The image is now exactly where I want it, right above the heading titled "Understanding Fiction Writing Mode." You can do this anywhere in your document. Just highlight the image, and you’ll see those directional arrows indicating that you can move it. Hold down your mouse button, drag it to your desired location, and release it to drop the image. It’s super easy! You can also do this on a laptop by clicking and dragging in the same way you would move a folder or any other image on your screen. So, if you ever find yourself needing to reposition an image in Google Docs, just remember this simple dragging method. I hope you found this video helpful!
