I’m currently on the main explore page of GitHub, and I’m signed in. Let’s click on a random project to see how it works. I found one called Appium, which is a cross-platform automation framework and has over 21,000 stars, making it quite popular. On GitHub, you can download a variety of projects, apps, and code freely shared by users. Some repositories are private, meaning you can't download them, but many are open for anyone to access. To download a project, you’ll want to look for the green button that says "Code" with a dropdown arrow next to it. There are a few ways to download a repository. The most straightforward method is to download it as a ZIP file. You can also use HTTPS links or SSH if you’re comfortable with command line tools. My personal recommendation, especially if you’re not familiar with command lines, is to stick with downloading the ZIP file. Once you click on "Download ZIP," the file will start downloading. I’m using a Mac, so I see the download icon pop up in the corner, indicating that it’s been downloaded. Depending on your browser and operating system, it will typically go to your main downloads folder. You can then open the ZIP file, and it will contain all the code organized in the same file structure as on GitHub. You can do this for any project on GitHub. For example, I have one of my own projects that I’ll show you. Just like before, you would click on the "Code" dropdown and download the ZIP file. You can also use the other methods I mentioned earlier, like SSH. Feel free to explore GitHub and check out different projects. If you find something interesting, just follow the same steps to download it. For instance, if you need a new version of Homebrew, you can download it in the same way.
