I’m currently on my LinkedIn profile, but you can start from anywhere on the platform. The first step is to click on the “Me” button, which is usually at the top of the page. This will bring up your profile picture, and from there, you’ll want to select “View Profile.” Once you’re on your profile, look to the top right corner of the page. You’ll see an option that says “Public Profile and URL.” If you look closely, you’ll notice that my URL is set to linkedin.com/in/mattacrawford. Yours might look like a random string of letters and numbers, which is pretty common. To change your URL, click on the little pen icon next to it. This will take you to the public profile settings screen. The option to edit your URL is a bit hidden, so make sure you’re looking at the top right corner again. Once you click that pen icon, you can customize the part of the URL that comes after the slash. For example, mine is currently set to “Matt A. Crawford,” but you can change yours to whatever you prefer. Just keep in mind that your custom URL must be between 3 to 100 characters long. It’s a bit surprising that they allow up to 100 characters, but that’s the limit. Also, remember not to use spaces, symbols, or special characters since it needs to be a valid URL. After you’ve typed in your desired custom string, make sure to click “Save.” I won’t change mine right now because it’s already set how I want it. But once you save it, your custom URL will be active immediately. This means you and others can easily navigate to your profile using this new link. You can share this custom URL on your social media or anywhere else you want. It makes it much easier for people to find you on LinkedIn.
