I really like this carbohydrate calculator from calculator.net, and I’ll drop the link in the video description so you can easily access it. First off, this calculator allows you to use both metric and US units. For metric, you’ll be dealing with centimeters and kilograms, while the US version uses feet, inches, and pounds. You can even explore other units if you want to mix things up. Let’s start with the metric units. For our example, we’ll say the person is 30 years old, male, 189 cm tall, and weighs 100 kg. Next, you’ll need to set an activity level, which can be active, moderate, light, sedentary, very active, or extra active. Each option is explained in detail on the site. For the calculation method, you can choose between Mifflin-St Jeor or Katch-McArdle. For this example, we’ll stick with Mifflin. Once you hit the big green calculate button, you’ll get your results. The calculator will recommend that carbohydrates should make up 40 to 75% of your daily caloric intake. You’ll also see your weight maintenance calories and how many carbs you should take in if you want to lose or gain weight. It’s important to note that these numbers are estimations, not hard science, but they’re a great starting point. Now, let’s switch to the US units. We’ll say this person is 38 years old, female, 5'7", and weighs 135 lbs. After selecting that she’s very active and clicking calculate, we’ll see a breakdown of her maintenance calories and the recommended carbohydrate intake. Again, it suggests that carbs should be 40 to 75% of daily calories, and it’s a useful tool for anyone looking to manage their diet. I highly recommend bookmarking this calculator if you need to do these calculations regularly, whether for yourself or clients. It’s accessible from any device—mobile, tablet, or desktop. I hope you found this video helpful for calculating carbohydrate intake. If you did, please give it a like and subscribe for more content like this!
