The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley
The Ministry of Time is lower sci-fi for me and also kind of genre-defying, which I love. The premise—bringing people from the past into the present as “expats”—is so interesting, and the romance is subtle in a way I totally ate up. The writing is phenomenal, and the ending hit me so hard I was sobbing.
