A: A Song for Daughters - Deliberate Purpose in Yah is an affirmation for me. It was something that came naturally. When I first recorded it, I was trying out the microphone and singing things that came to my mind and in my spirit. The first few lines, “Never be afraid…” was the hurdle that I got over when I started recording these songs. [The message] was personally particular. The music was just for me at one point, but I soon found that it would be beneficial to others. A Song for Daughters could be a song for sons also, a song for mothers, fathers; fermenting oneself in spirituality and knowing who you are for yourself, but being able to explain it in a way where other people hear you and it resonates with them. My purpose, as I understand it to be, is DELIBERATE. EVERYTHING. From the beginning to the end. From when I was a child to now. The good, the bad, and the ugly, everything is purposed. I’m grateful to be living and able to tell a story that is true to me. [Deliberate Purpose in Yah] is a song for you, it’s a song for me. May it be a daily affirmation as you sing and listen to it.
