Sometimes, business owners are not well-informed about which sales, expenses, and purchases should be claimed and submitted to their bookkeepers. Bookkeepers may assume the business owner is knowledgeable and doing things correctly. Subsequently, the accountant may assume the bookkeeper has compiled everything. Next, the business owner assumes the accountant has all the necessary information. In reality, there should be better communicated between the three and the business owner should take the responsibility to develop a strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting to maximize their chances of success as a business owner.
