Different governments' involvement in business

How do city (municipal) governments, provincial governments, and the federal government get involved with your business? In some form, all three levels of government in Canada will be involved with your business. Municipal governments which represent towns and cities, will generally issue business licenses and enforce zoning bylaws. Provincial governments will enforce provincial sales tax, business registration, worker's compensation, and maybe other permits and licenses. The federal government enforces federal sales taxes, payroll accounts, and business tax returns.
