What do DBA and o/a mean? DBA means "doing business as" and o/a means "operating as." These basically mean the same thing and are used in business when a legal entity which is a human or a corporation is operating under a business name that is registered to them. Someone who chooses to operate a business under a name different than their legal name will use this and so will a corporation that has added an operating name different from its original incorporation name.
