Part 2 of my journey to learn how to quilt and I have found success and inspiration to keep learning by using this simple process to make lovely Quilted REVERISBLE Placemats that I will gift to family and friends and sell at my festival events. You can make them with a holiday theme like I do in this video or to match your decor year-round. Flowers, birds, funky designs ... so many lovely fabrics and pre cut jelly roll packages to choose from. This process is so easy and rewarding. If I can do it, you can do that too! Download the step by step template from our website and use your fabric scraps, jelly roll fabric packages already assembled for you in complimentary fabrics and colors to be pleased with the easy results of this process. We also learn how to apply the edge binding in a fast and easy way that will be the perfect finishing touch! Find the free overview and template on our website with this link - https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1714/8197/files/reversible_placemat_template.pdf?v=1732407811 I use a Christmas themed Jelly Roll package of 60 pieces of 40 inch precut strips to make a few placemats for this video but I also experimented cutting my own strips by buying a few different prints of fabric from a collection of holiday vintage themed fabric by Tim Holtz for FreeSpirit Fabrics which I absolutely love. I cut my strips at 3 inches wide which is about 1/2 inch wider than the jelly roll precut strips. Cutting your own strips will lower the number of strips you will need for each placemat if you cut strips wider than 2.5 inches. The real secret is using the fleece interfacing that has a fusible side. It just makes it so easy to iron on a solid piece of complimentary fabric on one side and then concentrate of doing the fancy and festive quilting on the other! This fleece interfacing has a fusible side that makes learning to make quilted placemats easy and fun! Great for our hat brims too! I will be using it for the soft roll up brim for our Niagara Hat tutuorial coming up soon on the channel. This interfacing is easy to find around the world. I am recommending Plantional Fleece Interfacing on Amazon as a must have addition to my sewing business. One roll of this interfacing, in the 10 yard length, can make 20 placemats and add about a dollar to the cost of each. This interfacing is very competitively priced. Here are the items used in this video available on Amazon. As an Amazon affiliate, we will earn a small commission on purchases using these links which will not increase your cost but help us greatly to pay for the digital work needed to share our hat making patterns.
