Today I'm sharing my Language Goals for the new year + I'm sharing how to set realistic objectives, focusing on creating effective language learning systems and how you can develop in multiple languages. We'll be talking about CEFR, being better at understanding a language rather than speaking it, how to get out of your comfort zone and how to improve your speaking. About This Video

Happy 2026! In this video I’m sharing my language goals for the year—and, more importantly, how I’m setting them in a way that’s actually realistic. I talk about why language learning isn’t “obsolete” (even with AI everywhere), and why I’m focusing less on miracle outcomes and more on building systems: habits, routines, and inputs that make progress almost inevitable. I also explain how I use CEFR as a reference point (including what “C2” really means in real life), and why it’s totally normal to feel like you’re “stuck” even at an advanced level—especially in English. Then I get specific about my languages: improving my French speaking (getting out of my comfort zone and doing the uncomfortable reps), using Spanish input strategically, and starting German in a way that doesn’t overwhelm me. I also touch on Russian basics and how I’m approaching it as a long-term journey rather than an all-or-nothing project. The big takeaway is that goals are great, but systems are essential: if you want to develop multiple languages, you need a plan that fits your life—and a mindset that prioritizes consistency over perfection.
