Alreyt folks—Lee Armitage, the Evil Wizard here. In this video I’m taking a first look at the Spira V400, a pointy, sharp V that I picked up at the Birmingham Guitar Show. I tried a couple at different stalls (there was a green one and a black one knocking about), then clocked that Spira had their own stand as well. This one’s clean at the minute—no battle scars yet—but it’s absolutely spot on straight out of the gate. I run through the quick specs without too much waffle: 24 frets (feels like jumbo), Spira’s own Villain pickups, roasted poplar body, roasted Canadian maple neck, ebony fretboard, one volume/one tone, three-way toggle, and it even came with a Spira-branded string dampener. I also forgot earlier but it’s a 14° radius and 25.5" scale length. Then I plug it into the NUX Shreddage (down on the floor) and try a few cleanish tones, a leady tone, and—let’s be honest—proper metal chug tones. My takeaway: it’s a really nice guitar to play. The neck’s smooth, fret ends are smooth, tuners seem solid, and it’s already got me writing riffs and songs. Action’s decent, and I might just drop it a touch with a small saddle tweak. Price-wise, I paid about £290, and for that, this thing is a budget metal monster.
