About This Video

In this video I show you, step-by-step, how I design a typical Ghana funeral poster / one-week poster in Photoshop. I start from scratch with an A3 print canvas (File > New > Print > A3), then I build the whole layout with simple shapes—mainly rectangles—to divide the design cleanly. I also add that small “gradient vibe” inside the main shape using a brush layer and clipping mask (right click > Create Clipping Mask), then I move into the name styling with two tones/gradients, proper alignment, and a clean center line to separate the text. From there I set up the “One Week Observation” section and I talk about fonts—my rule is simple: use about 2–3 fonts, don’t go beyond that. I show you how I create the date/venue/time blocks with a gradient fill, how I bold key parts so it’s easier to read, and how I handle the “boring details” that actually make clients pay. Finally, I build the background by downloading a window/curtain look and blending it (screen/multiply, opacity, masks), then I quickly convert the same design into a banner (3x4) by grouping, resizing, and repositioning elements. Easy peasy—once your base poster is solid, the other sizes become quick quick quick.
