About This Video

In this video I opened Photoshop and we did some magic—an elegant Homecoming flyer layout from scratch. I started by checking the brief (Homecoming Festival) and then I went straight to Pinterest, because honestly one of the best places to find inspiration is Pinterest. I looked at a few creative samples, “stole” one or two ideas (in a good way), and used them to build my own clean, modern composition—rounded rectangles, duplicated shapes, and a simple stroke trick that gives that nice layered card effect. From there I focused on color and hierarchy: I used a green gradient for the main Homecoming title and added yellow because green normally complements with yellow, so the design pops. I also experimented with a “Third Edition” badge using the pen tool and shadows, then converted it to a smart object and finished it with a white stroke to make it feel premium. Along the way I kept stressing the small small details—those little alignments, spacing, and styling choices that separate the pros from the beginners. I didn’t fully finish the flyer in this session (time was moving), but you’ll see my full process: testing ideas fast, grouping layers, aligning to center, and planning to combine inspiration from multiple designs into one final A4 layout you can print.
