Testing 2 Products Against NIGHTMARE Weed
AmazonAmazonI am testing 2 herbicides against sedges which are terrible. Purple and yellow nutsedge are extremely common and difficult to control. Kyllinga can also be a problem. I test Dismiss

Dismiss (sulfentrazone) is what I like for an early-season blanket application because it’s a relatively inexpensive way to get ahead of sedges. In my test it showed quicker, more visible leaf burn and discoloration compared to the Certainty-type option, which is why I like it before warm-season turf really greens up.

Pros

  • +Fast visible burn/discoloration on sedges in a few days
  • +Works well as a cost-effective blanket application early in the season
  • +Can be part of a broader mix strategy (I often add metsulfuron early)

Cons

  • -Can cause turf discoloration if applied after green-up or under dew/low-volume conditions
  • -May not completely kill sedge in a single application
