We would like you to join us to learn the story of how a collaboration between @MoorInstruments and @UniversityOfDundee delivered yet another success story for the North of Scotland KTP Centre. The goal of their KTP was to develop an innovative medical device for optical imaging of blood flow during keyhole surgery, to improve patient outcomes. Maintaining blood flow during and after surgery is essential to minimise complications, but is extremely difficult to assess during keyhole procedures. Moor had well-established skills in both electronics & laser technology, but needed expertise in endoscopy and the miniaturised optics that their proposed device required. The University of Dundee academic team are highly skilled in endoscope technology, developed over 10 years and testified by multiple publications and clinical studies. Together with their KTP Associate, the KTP delivered a working medical device, which was already undergoing pre-clinical testing at the end of the project. The North Scotland KTP Centre acted as the bridge between the knowledge base and the company, demonstrating that project collaborations have the potential to achieve extraordinary results.
