In this new year, maybe one of your resolutions is to get better sleep. Thankfully, there are a ton of sleep tracking wearables available right now. The question is, are they actually any good? While we might not ever truly know the answer to that question, I had an opportunity to test them out in a unique scenario: wearing them while sleeping in one of the most unique hotels I've ever laid my head down in. During my trip to Japan, I stayed at the NIne Hours Akasaka Sleep Lab, a special version of the company's popular capsule hotels that puts sensors all over the pods so that you can have your sleep analyzed. While not medical grade, the idea is that Nine Hours Sleep Lab would provide data more robust than typical wearables -- so I wanted to see if the sleep lab would support or challenge the data that my trackers gave me. Join me on a stroll down memory lane to my trip to Japan by pitting sleep gadgets vs an actual sleep lab!
