About This Video

In this video I’m sharing what I genuinely think is so sweet about homeschooling the middle school years—because I know this season can feel a little intimidating when you’re looking ahead. I filmed this last year and I’m finally getting it up, but everything I share still holds true: there are so many benefits to these “tween” years that I didn’t fully appreciate until I was in them. Middle school can be such a fun bridge between little-kid learning and the more independent high school years. I talk about the things I’ve loved most—like getting to have deeper conversations, reading really rich books together, and watching your kids start to take more ownership of their learning. This is also a season where routines and planning can help so much, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. I also mention a couple practical resources that have helped our family, including my books list for tweens and teens and a safe first phone option. If you’re heading into middle school homeschool and you need encouragement, I made this to remind you: there is so much to look forward to.
