In this video, I’m sharing my top life skills resources and curriculum picks that have helped our family over the past decade of homeschooling. This is part of a collab with Abby from Rooted in Rest and Jessica from The Waldock Way, and the whole goal is practical: what actually helps kids grow in real-life responsibility—at home, with money, and with everyday skills they’ll carry into adulthood. I talk through a few of my favorite ways to teach planning (because life skills don’t “just happen” on their own), plus simple systems like chore charts that make expectations clear without me having to repeat myself a hundred times. Then we get into some of my favorite math options that focus on real-world application—things like budgeting, consumer math, and business math—because I want my kids to understand how the world works and how to handle money wisely. I also share a couple of straightforward life skills books for kids and teens that are easy to pull in alongside your regular homeschool routine.
