Mercure Hotel
I stayed at the Mercure Auckland on Queen Street for one night as a paying guest to properly test it. For $139 NZD in the CBD, I liked the bright room, comfy bed, fast free Wi‑Fi, and my Sky Tower view—but the little maintenance/cleanliness details (scuffs, kettle/iron, shower head) let it down for a four-star.

Cons
- -Marks/scuffs on walls and some wear (blinds coming away, nicks/rips)
- -Kettle and iron didn’t look very clean
- -Shower pressure wasn’t very strong and shower heads looked a bit dirty
- -Internal soundproofing between rooms felt quite thin
- -Gym area is small, dark, and awkward to access via specific lift
